A vet has revealed the dog breed he tries to steer clear of whenever they arrive at his surgery. Dogs became the first domesticated species over 14,000 years ago, and selective breeding has since produced more than 360 recognised breeds worldwide.
All people have their preferences when it comes to dog breeds, with prospective owners carefully considering characteristics such as temperament, activity and energy levels, loyalty, calmness and other factors when choosing which breed to bring home.
During the decision-making process, many would-be owners consult social media for advice from experienced owners and experts, including trainers and veterinary professionals. Well-known veterinarian Dr Amir Anwary has built a substantial following on social media, accumulating hundreds of thousands of likes on TikTok through his frequent video content featuring his expert guidance and suggestions.
Beyond educational material, he also shares amusing clips featuring himself dancing while recounting entertaining stories from his work with animals and their owners.

In a recent comedic post, the vet revealed a breed he attempts to avoid. In the footage, he lip synchs to an audio clip which states: « I gotta put me first, I gotta put me first, I gotta put me first, Lucious! »
The widely-used audio originates from an episode of the successful Fox drama series, Empire, featuring Taraji P. Henson’s character Cookie Lyon telling Terrence Howard’s Lucious Lyon that she had to prioritise her own needs.
In the video, the vet overlaid text that reads: « When I take the Labrador and leave the AGGRESSIVE Belgian Malinois for the other veterinarian ».
In the caption, he added: « I’m sorry but it’s every man for themselves [crying laughing emoji] I’m taking the patient that’s less likely to cause my body physical damage ».
Also known as the Belgian shepherd or Chien de Berger Belge, this medium-sized herding breed is known for its protective nature, confidence, friendliness, and hard-working attitude. However, they can also be quite stubborn.
These dogs are very alert and active, requiring plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and training.
In previous TikTok videos, Dr Anwary has labelled the breed « insane », highlighting the significant time and energy they demand from their owners. He once said he doesn’t have « six hours » every day « just to keep it happy ».
Many TikTok users responded to the vet’s video with crying laughing emojis, while others shared photos of their own Belgian Malinois dogs, insisting they were friendly.
Owning a dog is a serious commitment, typically spanning 10-15 years depending on the breed’s lifespan. Dogs require constant care, attention, and commitment from their owners.
Not all breeds are suitable for novice or inexperienced owners, and training is often essential. It’s crucial to thoroughly research and consider all the pros and cons of pet ownership before making the decision.
