Peter Jackson’s two incredibly popular movies are soon going to make an exit from Amazon Prime. Mr Jackson, a renowned New Zealand filmmaker is best known for his storytelling style that blends epic fantasy with emotional depth. His films are celebrated for their groundbreaking visual effects, sweeping landscapes, and richly detailed worlds.
The filmmaker is best known for directing, producing, and co-writing The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, based on the works of JRR Tolkien. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit Battle of Five Armies is about to leave the popular platform.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the second movie in The Hobbit trilogy that follows Bilbo Baggins, a brave hobbit, as he continues his journey with a group of dwarves and the wizard Gandalf. Their goal is to reach the Lonely Mountain and take back the dwarves’ home from a powerful dragon named Smaug.
Along the way, they face many dangers—like giant spiders, elves, and orcs. Bilbo also finds a magical ring that plays a big role in the story. The movie is full of action, adventure, and amazing fantasy scenes, making it exciting for fans of magical worlds and epic quests.
One of the viewers wrote a review: “Once again Peter Jackson and his team have really come up with the goods in this 2nd part of the Hobbit trilogy.
The amazing landscapes of New Zealand are used with great effect and the CGI is stunning! Culminating in the first reveal of Smaug the Magnificent, rising from beneath the massed hordes of gold within the mountain, I was blown away by the stunning detail of the dragon and his every mannerism is captured magnificently by Benedict Cumberbatch`s voice over. Stunning!!
“OK. So I`m a die hard fan and could not fault this movie in anyway, despite the obvious additions and subtractions from the original story, it moves along at a great pace leading from one tight spot to another, with a whole load of backstory added that was never part of the original book. Love it! Love it!”
On the other hand, The Battle of the Five Armies is the third and final film in The Hobbit trilogy. Released in 2014, it picks up right after The Desolation of Smaug, with the dragon Smaug unleashing fiery destruction upon Lake-town. The story then shifts to the growing tension over the treasure hoarded in the Lonely Mountain, leading to an epic clash between five armies.
This film wraps up Bilbo’s journey and sets the stage for the world we later see in The Lord of the Rings.
Calling it « one of the best », a social media user wrote: « Frankly this was the best of all the Lord of the rings films, all the others seemed to dwell to much on borings details to justify the excessive length of most of the movies ( what is relevant in a book to describe the nature and surroundings is just not necessary in a movie) and all of the other ring films suffered greatly from this, Except this last one, the action never stopped and the story breezed along at full pace never tiring you with long interludes of camp fire chats etc.
« When it concluded, I generally felt I had enjoyed a ripping good yarn and was surprised that it was over so soon in marked contrast with all previous. »
