Dave Franco’s latest film is being hailed by the critics ahead of its release. Together is a supernatural body horror film written and directed by Michael Shanks, in his directorial debut.

The horror film stars real-life married actors Franco and his wife Alison Brie, as a couple who move to the countryside but find themselves encountering a mysterious force that changes their bodies dramatically. Together’s synopsis reads: « Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie (Dave Franco and Alison Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh. »

The film is already receiving glowing reviews ahead of its release, with a perfect score of 100% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics consensus states: « Given an extra sinew of authenticity by the metatextual casting of Alison Brie and Dave Franco at the top of their game, Together is a body horror that’s as emotionally sticky as it is memorably gnarly. »

A critic wrote in their review: « Together is a gruesome yet thought-provoking exploration of co-dependency bolstered by stellar performances from Allison Brie and Dave Franco. »

One critic said: « Make no mistake, Together is as much a sweet and hilarious romantic comedy as it is a truly disgusting horror film, and it’s the symbiotic relationship between Shanks, Franco, and Brie that makes the film’s disparate tones fuse so well. »

Another critic added: « What happens when you feel like you’re losing yourself, and your dreams in a relationship? Do you fight it or learn to thrive together? TOGETHER explores those thoughts to the extreme with this absurdly satisfying body horror. Perfect for date night! »

« With Franco and Brie, Shanks’ sharp horror instincts in delivering scares and laughs with a refreshing lack of pretension, Together is better than the sum of its parts and has a solid foundation in creating a cinematic relationship that works, » a fourth added.

Together will be released in UK cinemas on August 15.
