The UK’s most expensive postcodes outside of London have been revealed, and their locations might not be that surprising. There is not much geographical diversity in the top 10 most expensive postcodes outside London, though, as all of them lie in the South of England and are within commuting distance to the capital.
Damien Jefferies, founder of Jefferies James, argues this is a result of the huge influence of the London property market, telling MoneyWeek: “The nation’s most prestigious postcodes can all be found within arm’s reach of the capital.” Topping the list is EN5, home to Barnet, New Barnet, Wrotham Park, 12 miles from London. The furthest place from London in the top 10 is HP9, home to Beaconsfield, Forty Green, Seer Green, and Jordans. It is 25 miles from the capital. The most expensive postcode in the UK is W1B in the City of Westminster. Homes have a median value of £4.38 million. The average property price in the UK is £298,602, according to Halifax’s house price index.
