With school well and truly back in session, young girls don’t just have to deal with homework, lessons and exams during the day. Many will have to think about navigating starting their period. However, one brand is helping make things a little more ‘comfortable’ with its TEEN collection period pants that make school days both leak and stress-free.

Shoppers can take advantage of Modibodi’s current sale with up to 40% off some items. Modibodi claims it is on a mission to eradicate school period panic with their TEEN designs that have left their wearers ‘happy, confident and feeling fully supported’.

According to the brand’s research, school is the top place where teens fear leaks, with two out of five girls confessing they struggle to focus on classwork during their period.

With the brand’s sale ongoing, shoppers can snap up the Super Teen Hipster Boyshort for £17.59, reduced from £21.99, which can hold up to 50ml, which is the equivalent of 10 tampons. The boyshort-style underwear sits on the hip with a low leg cut and is perfect for heavy bleeding, overnight or extended wear.

These shorts have received an impressive 4.7-star rating from shoppers, with one person sharing: « Bought them for my daughter and she loves them. She wears them to bed, so she is not worried about any leaks or anything. She finds them very comfy and perfect sizing. »

Another option is the Moderate Teen Hipster Bikini, now £14.39, down from £17.99. Available in a variety of colours such as Black, Purple and Pony Stripe Pink, these can hold 30ml – the same as up to six tampons – and feature a slimmer cut, making them ideal for everyday style, reports the Mirror.

For those who want some extra support overnight, the Super Teen Sleep Short 2 Pack, now £27.99 reduced from £39.99, is made from organic cotton, offering breathability and softness against the skin. They can also hold up to 50ml, ie the same as 10 tampons. They feature a high-waist style and a wide waistband for optimal comfort.

Modibodi isn’t the only brand offering teens and women an alternative, more sustainable option to sanitary pads and tampons. The Teen Hipster Waistband Moderate period pants from Bodyform are £14.99 and are available in black. These are crafted from comfortable, breathable and soft fabric and boast a comfortable cut.

Another option is the Classic underwear from Snuggs for £18.85, designed for heavy flow, capable of holding up to four tampons’ worth of blood, urine or sweat. They’re also washable and reusable, thinner and lighter than regular underwear and feature antibacterial properties to prevent odours.

The Modibodi range comes highly recommended by shoppers, with the ‘moderate’ Teen Hipster Boyshorts accruing 4.9 stars out of 5-star rating on its website.

Sharing their experience, one shopper wrote a glowing review that read: « This product has made the transition of moving from child to young woman and dealing with periods so much easier for my daughter, and in turn me. She is happy, confident and feels fully supported and trusts this product. I’m about to buy again straight after this review. »

Another said: « My daughter loves wearing these. She feels safe and confident knowing she will be protected all day and can still continue her day-to-day events. No leakages at all. I highly recommend these. »

A third shopper wrote: « My 11-year-old daughter had her first period and breezed through it using the modi bodi shorts, I’m so happy that she didn’t have to suffer in any way like I did in my day. There were no leaks, no uncomfortable towels to change, nothing for her to worry about. »

However, not everyone shared the same sentiment, as one person remarked that the sizing was slightly off. They said: « Ordered 16-18 for my 17-year-old, thinking they are age-based, but they are huge. »

Although the brand does have a size guide on its website to help get the measurements correct for the size.

While it’s not an issue that has been noted in any other reviews, one person did state: « Comfortable and very good absorbency. Unfortunately, there is a smell after wearing them for a few hours when bleeding heavily. I am also finding that rinsing them after wear and then doing a cool wash later means that I have a lot of damp (they take ages to dry) pants hanging up in the bathroom, and I am having to do cool washes just for the pants. »

However, for the most part, most people have had a ‘very positive experience with Modibodi’, with another shopper explaining: « I’ve been using period pants for a few years and I’m happy. I had a little problem with two of the pairs recently, but the team from Modibodi replied to my messages really quickly and solved my problem straight away! »
