LED masks are currently a hot topic in the skincare world, with beauty enthusiasts increasingly using light therapy treatments for skin rejuvenation and more. One product that stands out from the crowd is the Dr Dennis Gross DRx SpectreLite FaceWare Pro. Unlike other masks that can take up to 20 minutes, this one only requires three minutes per day.
While LED primarily addresses signs of ageing such as fine lines, skin thinning and hyperpigmentation, Dr Dennis Gross’ shield-like mask is particularly effective for acne treatment. Currently on sale at Cult Beauty, the Dr Dennis Gross LED mask has been reduced by 20%, down to £372 from £465 – a saving of £93.
Suitable for all skin types, this device features 162 LED lights and offers three treatment options: red light therapy, blue light therapy or a combination of both.
Understandably, it’s on the pricier side, but there are cheaper alternatives available. For instance, the Stylpro Wavelength LED Mask, priced at £99, and the Magnitone Get Lit Tri Colour LED Mask, which is currently discounted to £56.25 at LookFantastic, reported the Mirror.
Dr Alexis Granite, consultant dermatologist and founder of Joonbyrd, explained that whilst the principles behind LED technology remain consistent across different masks, « not all masks contain the same types of bulbs, light wavelengths or materials ».
Dr Dennis Gross’ LED mask delivers more power than alternatives, enabling customers to achieve the same energy output in three minutes rather than 20 minutes.
Customers have noted improvements in their acne and overall skin radiance. One remarked: « I have been using this for over eight months now and can see a vast improvement in skin texture and overall brightness under the skin. Really easy to use and the charge works fine but I do use it for longer than the recommended three minutes a day. Not sure how this will be long term but so far happy. »
Another buyer was amazed by the acne-clearing results, revealing: « I bought this whilst I was suffering from severe painful acne whilst waiting to be seen by a dermatologist. I didn’t have high hopes, but I was desperate. I was religiously using this mask, but attributed the skin clearing to the pill.
« I then got lazy with the mask, and I started getting some spots again. Whilst this obviously did not clear my severe cystic acne alone, it does help to keep the spots away, and I’m surprised by how good a job it actually does. »
A 45-year-old customer was delighted with the Dr Dennis Gross mask design as she explained: « I couldn’t find any other mask which is that pleasant to look at and that comfortable. I look after my skin, own Foreo, microcurrent device, etc, so this mask fits into my routine perfectly. After every day treatment I can say that my face is radiant, no blemishes, no discolouration, my under eye area looks pretty good to the point that I barely wear makeup. »
However, not every review was positive as some customers say they « are yet to see any improvement on fine lines and wrinkles ».
Another highlighted a fault in the strap design: « The mask is a bit tricky to clean, and the strap feels flimsy. The straps around your head never stay tight, you’ll tighten them and they’ll immediately loosen. »
Founder Dr Dennis Gross shared his guidance on the proper method to use the mask for optimal results. He explained: « Remember the golden rule of layering – thinnest to thickest. Light therapy should be done on a clean, dry face. Applying topical products beforehand will block the LED from penetrating the skin, and you won’t see the best results.
« The SpectreLite FaceWare Pro should be used at any time for three minutes daily. If your device sits on the shelf, it won’t work. Consistency is key for great results. »
