Sainsbury’s has announced a huge saving offer for customers by slashing prices of kitchen staples by up to 50%. In a bid to draw customers away from its competitors, the supermarket giant is cutting prices on fruit, vegetables and fridge staples for its shoppers.
However, to reap the benefits of the discounts, customers will need to have a Nectar card. The discounts will be available for Nectar cardholders from Sunday, January 25 to Tuesday, February 17, accounting to Retail Gazette. Discounts will be available in selected Sainsbury’s stores and online.
The announcement comes after searches for “value” increased by 50% week-on-week, according to the supermarket. Those who are part of Sainsbury’s Nectar loyalty programme will be able to choose from over 30 discounted products, including fresh fruit and veg, and fridge essentials like yoghurt and cheese.
Some of the fridge staple discounts include Lurpak Slightly Salted Butter, reduced to £2.37 with a loyalty card from £4.75 without a Nectar card. Fresh produce such as blueberries and kale, have been lowered to £1 and 44p without a loyalty card from £2 and 89p, respectively.
You’ll also find other products discounted, such as Philadelphia Original Soft Cream Cheese 165g for £1.10, from £2.25, and by Sainsbury’s Medium Ripe & Ready Avocado for 37p, from 75p.
All you need to do is scan your Nectar card in-store to receive the discounts, and customers shopping online will automatically have discounts applied if their Nectar and Sainsbury’s accounts are linked.
If you don’t have a Nectar card yet, you can register for free at Nectar.com, to join 27 million holders. Nectar has over 500 big brand partners, and can be used at Argos, British Airways, Esso, Tu Clothing, Habitat, and Cafe Nerro, to name a few.
You can also download the Nectar app for personalised offers with hundreds of different brands.
