It’s no secret certain pieces can be worth an absolute mint. Now one TikTok user revealed how you can turn into a millionaire by owning these pennies.
The user, @thecoincollectoruk, who has amassed 129,000 followers, shared a video showcasing two old pennies with different dates. They highlighted a coin from 1933 and a Queen Elizabeth piece from 1954.
They stated: « These two old pennies can make you a millionaire. There are two different dates you must look out for on your old pennies. The first is a George 5th penny from 1933, there are thought to be less than 10 of these.
« One of them resold at auction for £127,248 and others in the £70,000 to £80,000 range. It’s definitely the most valuable penny to ever exist. »
They then shifted his focus to the Queen Elizabeth 1954 penny which is extremely rare.
« There is only one of these known to have survived from a trial run of several hundreds according to the Royal Mint, » the user explained.
« This means the 1954 is also an extremely rare penny, the last one sold in 1991 for £23,100. It’s likely worth even more now with inflation accounted for. »
Additionally, there’s an « MS 63 version of the coin which could be worth up to £60,000 ». Since the informative video was posted, it has received 4,000 likes and over 400 comments.
Collectors are in a frenzy over potential rare finds, with one stating: « Penny black is the most expensive penny, » and another keenly adding: « Hi sir I have this coin. »
A different enthusiast chimed in: « I have four of these. »
Should you suspect you’re in possession of such collectible coins, the sage advice is to consult with a specialist. Some pieces could turn out to be tiny treasure troves, worth significantly more than you might anticipate.
