For those trying to find the perfect paint palette for their home, the trend of white or grey walls might seem favourable. Howeverm one painter and decorator suggests a different hue that promises to complement nearly every space.

David Fitzpatrick, a seasoned painter and decorator hailing from Rochester, Kent, shares his expertise on Instagram account @bobbysdecoratingcompany, where he dispenses his professional advice. In a recent reel, he divulged why it’s time to bid farewell to grey.

The clip showed David applying a coat of paint in the shade Natural Hessian, with overlay text proclaiming: « The grey days are gone. This is the most popular colour right now. »

He elaborated in the caption, writing: « N A T T Y H E S S Y, a.k.a. Natural Hessian.

« A classic of a colour making a very strong come back over the past couple of years. A warm, neutral, soft beige with subtle grey undertones; this colour is very versatile and will work in most areas of your home. »

The recommendation has been met with enthusiasm, amassing over 4,000 likes on the post.

One enthusiast shared: « Literally painted two bedrooms in natural hessian in January! It’s the perfect ‘greige’ in my opinion. Not too grey, not too beige, warm undertones and looks great in all light! »

While another chimed in: « I quite like this colour. The house I’m working on at the moment has had this in several rooms and it’s a lovely and warm colour. »

A third enthused: « Loving these neutrals! Use this then add splashes of colour with cushions, lampshades, flowers, rugs, picture frames…. list is endless lol. »

Meanwhile, a fourth declared: « Thank God, so sick of the grey. »

Not everyone was convinced, however, as one dissenter commented: « Can’t wait until beige isn’t a trend. I hate this colour and all variants of it. It reminds me of my old geography teacher’s cardigan. »
