Enthusiasts of romantic comedies and dramas set in Scotland are set for a delightful surprise, as a film predominantly shot in Glasgow’s Merchant City is currently available for streaming.
The production, featuring prominent stars including Karen Gillan and Stanley Weber, chronicles a Scottish author securing her maiden breakthrough following numerous rejection letters.
When Tom Duvall, a Franco-Scottish editor at a struggling publishing house, chooses to publish her debut novel, he discovers his interest extends beyond merely her literary work.
The film, Not Another Happy Ending, can be streamed on Disney Plus and was partially funded through a crowdfunding initiative.
Whilst it garnered predominantly unfavourable critical reviews, numerous viewers offered glowing praise and have encouraged others to judge for themselves.

The cast includes Outlander actor Gary Lewis as Benny Lockhart, the protagonist’s father, who also portrayed Colum MacKenzie in the cherished historical drama.
Tonymclees awarded it 10 out of 10 stars, saying on IMDb reviews: “Beautiful locations, beautiful cast and a story with a beautiful outlook…beautiful.
“At first I thought I’d be put off with the hipster style of the characters but after a few seconds this misgiving melted away to be replaced initially with satisfaction then with delight.”

Scottish actor Emun Elliott was initially set to portray Tom, but was substituted with French actor Stanley Weber. This prompted the filmmakers to incorporate the character’s French heritage into the storyline.
