It’s never easy to know what show to start watching next after finishing one, especially if the show you just finished was better than you’d expected. This has been the case for many Breaking Bad fans, as they keep going back to rewatch the show, despite it having ended almost 13 years ago.

However, many claim to have struggled to find a good alternative show that was as good as the crime drama, which has been praised as one of the best TV shows of all time by some viewers, having an impressive overall score of 9.5 out of 10 on IMDb. But now, some claim to have found a good suggestion.

Taking to Reddit, one user took to the Netflix forum to ask for a good show to watch after having loved Breaking Bad, and the replies all mentioned the same show.

« What shows should a Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fan watch? » the user asked in their post. They then went on to say that they loved both Breaking Bad and its spin-off, Better Call Saul. Now, they wanted to find a similar show that was just as engaging.

« Doesn’t necessarily have to be a drug related show but it should be as engaging, full of suspense and exciting – a high stakes show. Please list the shows on Netflix(doesn’t have to be an original) which are as enjoyable as these classics, » they explained.

They soon recieved several different suggestions, but the one show that was mentioned the most was Ozark, an American crime drama series of four seasons.

The show stars the character of Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. Marty is on the move with his wife and their two kids after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe.

The show has earned an impressive score of 86% on review site Rotten Tomatoes, as critics call it a ‘masterpiece drama’, with incredible acting and writing throughout the show, that goes will with the heavy themes discussed within the story.

It stars Jason Bateman, alongside Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, and Skylar Gaertner, with Bill Dubuque (The Accountant, His & Hers) and Mark Williams (The Accountant, Better Man) as the creators of the show.

In another Reddit post, one user went on to discuss the similarities between Breaking Bad and Ozark, saying they first praised Breaking Bad for being one of the best shows they’d ever watched. But then realised Ozark actually lived up to the same hype.

While some people went on to claim that Breaking Bad was by far the superior show, some went on to say that they’d had the same realisation about Ozark.

« Breaking Bad was an epochal masterpiece. It was perfect from the first scene. It did a lot of things that no other show did before. Ozark built on a lot more of experience and craftsmanship in terms of making streaming / on demand shows, » one person commented.

« There is no Ozark without Breaking Bad, » another person said, to which a third user replied:  » I agree with this, but I do prefer Ozark’s story to Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad was a bit repetitive with the first couple of series regarding finding a buyer who turns out to be crazy and then ends up with that person dying and on to the next. »

They continued: « The character arc was nice for Walter White, something I wish Marty Byrde had as he seems the same throughout whereas Wendy has become power hungry. But I guess it comes to how they finish Ozark and then we can truly assess what was greater. »

But someone else simply said: « Ozark is very very VERY good. Breaking Bad is a classic, one of the greatest shows ever. »
