Martin Lewis has shared what he says is “potentially horrifying” news about which industries will be hardest hit by the advance of AI. On his social media, the founder of MoneySavingExpert.com shared the findings of a new report done by artifical intelligence company, Anthropic.

The San Francisco-based AI firm published the report last week, identifying jobs most exposed to AI as well as those likely to remain largely unaffected. Martin Lewis shared the findings on his X (formerly Twitter) account, calling the data both “fascinating” and “potentially horrifying for some future job markets.”

Martin Lewis wrote on X: “Where will AI impact the workplace? This was in @AnthropicAI’s report aiming to show where is ‘actually seeing AI usage in professional settings’ and theoretically where could it go. It is fascinating, and potentially horrifying for some future job markets, at the same time.”

In the report authored by Maxim Massenkoff and Peter McCrory, Figure 2 highlights which industries are most and least likely to be affected by AI. The red shows actual AI usage while the blue depicts what’s possible, the “theoretical AI coverage.”

The analysis found that AI could theoretically perform up to 94% of tasks in computer science and mathematics roles, about 90% in the legal sector, and over 60% in management, architecture, arts and media. Office and administrative occupations also show high exposure, with AI capable of handling roughly 90% of their tasks.

The authors also wrote about the graph: “As capabilities advance, adoption spreads, and deployment deepens, the red area will grow to cover the blue.

“There is a large uncovered area too; many tasks, of course, remain beyond AI’s reach—from physical agricultural work like pruning trees and operating farm machinery to legal tasks like representing clients in court.”

Occupations requiring physical presence or hands-on skills appear safest. These include groundskeepers, cooks, motorcycle mechanics, lifeguards, and bartenders, roles where AI cannot replace human dexterity and judgment.

Figure 3 in the report also shows the top 10 professions Anthropic identified as most exposed to AI:
