Lady Louise Windsor has already carved out a strong name herself within the Royal Family despite only making a few public appearances over the years. The youngster who turned 21 today (November 8) has quickly gained the affection of fans from around the globe following in the footsteps of her mother.

She is the eldest child and only daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Louise only has one sibling, younger brother James, Earl of Wessex.

Louise is styled as « Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor » but does not carry an HRH or Princess title. Although technically she is entitled to the Princess title due to being the grandchild of late Queen Elizabeth II.

Following in her elder cousin’s footsteps, Prince William, she is currently studying English at the University of St Andrews, which is where he studied. At birth, Louise automatically became a princess of the United Kingdom due to letters patent issued in 1917.

This assigned princely status and the style of Royal Highness to all children of a monarch’s sons, but the Queen decided to name her grandchildren as the children of an earl, rather than as prince or princess. Here Express.co.uk takes a look at her most poignant moments in the spotlight as she celebrates her milestone birthday.
