Keeping your home clean and sparking can often be a tougher challenge than you might anticipate. Because of this, many will be interested in any so called ‘cleaning hacks’ that will allow you to do the cleaning in an easier or time-saving manner.
While the internet is full of unique and sometime odd-sounding cleaning hacks, it can be difficult to know which ones actually work.
To help, a cleaning influencer named Georgia, who is better known as ‘Clean with Georgiia’ across her social media challenge, decided to come to the rescue and share the cleaning hacks she thinks are worth trying after having tried over 50 viral cleaning hacks.
« I tried 50 cleaning hacks and these […] will change your life, » she said at the start of the TikTok video.
She then jumped into her list of sharing her favourite 9 cleaning hacks in order to keep her home looking and smelling nice.
9. Cleaning blender effortlessly
« Now, I was today years old when I realised you can just clean your blender like this, » she said as she showed the simple method.
In the video, she was seen adding washing up liquid directly into her blender before adding some water and putting the lid back on. She then started the blender again, which allowed the water and washing up liquid to get rid of any leftover smoothies and stains without having to scrub it by hand.
« I think I’ll be doing that forever now, » she said.
8. Basket method
Next up is the basket method, where the only thing you need to do is to carry an empty basket, such as a laundry basket, around your home and adding any clutter into it.
Then, you simply carry the basket around with you as you put things back in their rightful place, making your home less cluttered.
« It saves me running around like a headless chicken, » she said.
7. Keep refillable dishbrush in shower
For her next tip, Georgia urged people to keep a refillable dishbrush, such as a dishmatic, in your shower. This way, you can make sure to clean your shower at the same time as you’re cleaning yourself.
In the video, Georgia is seen using the brush to scrub her glass shower screen while in the shower, before using the shower head to rinse off the washing up liquid, which leaves the screen sparking clean and without any limescale.
6. Scented cotton pad in your bin
The next hack is to eliminate any bad smells in your home by adding a scented cotton pad in the bottom of your bins.
For this, Georgia simply put a few drops of Zoflora multipurpose disinfectant in her preferred scent on a cotton pad before butting it at the bottom of her bin before adding a new bin liner.
This will stop any odours from your bin to spread around your home.
5. Shaving foam on toilet
For her next tip in her list, Georgia recommended to use shaving cream to deodorise on the floor underneath your toilet in order to prevent urine stains.
4. Lint roller on furnishing
« Next up, use a lint roller to dust all of your soft furniture, » she recommended.
In the TikTok clip, she was seen using her lint roller on her sofa as well on her fabric-covered dining chairs and inside a lamp shade.
« They really do leave no dust behind, » she claimed.
3. Flash mop on kitchen cupboards
While flash mops have been criticised by some for not doing as thorough of a clan as a standard mop, Georgia is now urging people to think outside the box when using them.
« For hack number four, use a flash mop to clean your kitchen cupboards, » she said, claiming it takes ‘less than five minutes’ to get the cupboards sparkling clean.
2. Use hairdryer on radiators
For the next hack on her list, the cleaning influencer recommended to use a hairdryer to get off any dust from behind your radiator that you might have otherwise not known was there.
She was also seen placing a towel or a piece of paper under the radiator in order to make sure she captured any dust falling off the radiator.
1. Lemon and toothpaste in washing machine
If you’ve noticed a mildew-y scent coming from inside your washing machine, Georgia has just the tip to get the odour disappearing – and you might already have the items you need to do it at home.
In the video, she was seen putting some toothpaste on a slice of half a lemon before putting it in the washing machine for a cycle, which apparently will leave the machine smelling fresh and clean again.
