I use Shark’s CryoGlow every morning for my under eyes

Shark has expanded their beauty range and launched their first beauty gadget – the CryoGlow LED mask that’s equipped with under-eye cooling technology.

With the boom in online searhes for red light therapy and under-eye solutions, experts in the Shark Beauty team spent 14 months to develop the LED mask using 480 Tri-Wick LEDs to improve skin health and boost self-confidence with no missed spots.

Retailing for £269.99, the CryoGlow is UK’s first LED mask that comes with two cooling plates to offer a quick cold therapy to depuff and reduce swelling caused by ageing. During the pandemic, I have become very conscious of how I look and one of the facial features that I struggled the most was the under-eye bags. You can get Shark CryoGlow LED Mask here, £269.99

It could be ageing, it could be lack of supplements but I was not happy when I woke up to see the « sagging crescents » and friends thought I was lack of sleep. I tried using tea bags, frozen spoons to depuff my eyes but it’s all temporary solutions.

So I was excited to try the Shark CryoGlow. So what does it offer? Shoppers can choose from four LED and cooling modes to tailor your concerns. The Under-eye Cooling mode can be used alone or with other modes, it’s a five to 10 minutes cold therapy powered by InstaChill Cold Technology to firm and tighten under-eyes.

For a general skin glow-up, the Better Ageing mode utilises red LEDs and Infrared light to give a six-minute treatment to plump skin and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.

If you are blemish-prone or have uneven texture, pick the Blemish Repair mode. It’s an eight-minute 3-phrase mode using blue light, red light and infrared light to repair skin damage with antimicrobial effect.

After an eight-week cycle of treatment, you can continue to use the CryoGlow in Skin Sustain mode, which helps to maintain skin complexion and boost brightness.

My impression of using the CryoGlow has been positive – it has a thick, adjustable elastic band for easy fit and once it’s secured, it doesn’t slip off like others with the ear loops on the mask. The LED lights are not as glaring as I thought it would be and with the palm-sized remote control, it shows step-by-step guide with a timer display.

If you haven’t tried cryotherapy before, brace yourself and make sure you set the under-eyes cooling to the lowest setting. The temperature on the cold plates can drop to 16°C and your skin may feel hot, but that’s a normal sign when the controlled cold burn works by restricting blood vessels.

I turn on the under-eye cooling while using the Better Ageing mode and use it every day for roughly a week. It’s not enough to say much on fine lines and wrinkles of course, but my under-eye bags have improved drastically. The area where it used to give off the impression of tiredness and lack of sleep are way less puffy.

It also helps getting the foundation and concealer on better, which is great to use if you want a last-minute pamper before any important events. It took me a few trials to adjust the headband, otherwise the weight could sit on your face and end up ‘dragging’ your skin, which we wouldn’t want that to happen at all.

Having tried many other LED face masks, I’m surprised that the Shark CryoGlow has a fan inside the face shield and it could be a bit noisy as compared to CurrentBody’s viral Series 1 mask, which is also dubbed as the ‘Emily in Paris mask’ because Lily Collins used it in the second season of the Netflix hit show.

If you prefer a shield-like LED mask similar to the CryoGlow, there’s also TheraFace mask, £549, that comes with a unique massage vibration therapy to promote relaxation and stress relief.
