‘I refused to put my neighbour’s bin out – I called her daughter lazy’

One woman has revealed how a row broke out with her neighbour after she didn’t put out her bin.

The lady was left perplexed when her neighbour asked her to take out their rubbish bin while they were away. Her daughter, who appears to be in her late 20s,  was at the property while she was away, but she said she was too « lazy » to do it.

Despite being busy and her husband being away, the woman agreed to add it to her list of tasks but asked for a quick check in the morning to ensure it had been done.

« Anyway, I saw the bin sitting outside her house on the morning of bin day so I jumped in the car and went to work », she shared on Mumsnet.

Upon returning from holiday, the neighbour was furious that her bin hadn’t been taken out. Confused, the woman then realise that the bin she’d seen outside belonged to another neighbour.

The woman explained that she had to interrupt a work call to answer the door, which made her see red.

« I asked why her jobless daughter had a problem putting the bins out when she was sitting in the house », she fumed, leading the neighbour to storm off. She hasn’t seen her since.

She concluded her post by stating: « To be honest, I do feel a bit bad but there was a bin outside the house, unmarked with no house number. Was I to rifle through the bins for signs it was hers? Go to the door at 7am to ask the daughter if it was her bin? Enter her property to check on her bins? Why can’t people just do simple tasks? »

In response, one person commented: « Good for you. It’s a bloody cheek asking you in the first place when she has an adult child living in the house. I’d have said the same. She was probably moaning to her daughter that you hadn’t taken out the bins.

Another labelled the family as « cheeky f**kers », accusing them of being « entitled ». « It’s her fault for letting the daughter get away with it », a Mumsnet user vented.
