‘I didn’t put neighbour’s bin out for her – now she’s livid’

A woman was left perplexed when her neighbour asked her to put their bin out while they were away, explaining that their daughter, who appears to be in her late 20s, was « lazy » and wouldn’t do it.

Despite being busy and her husband working away, the woman agreed to add it to her list of tasks. She promised to « have a quick check » in the morning to ensure it had been done.

« Anyway, I saw the bin sitting outside her house on the morning of bin day so I jumped in the car and went to work », she wrote on Mumsnet

She continued: « When she came back from holiday she turned up on my doorstep furious that her bin hadn’t been put out. Turned out it was the neighbour’s bin positioned in front of her house. »

The original poster explained she’d « dialled off a work call to answer the door » to her, and as a result, she « saw red » and went mad.

« I asked why her jobless daughter had a problem putting the bins out when she was sitting in the house », she raged, which caused the woman to « storm off », and she hadn’t « seen her since ».

She concluded her Mumsnet vent by asking: « To be honest, I do feel a bit bad but there was a bin outside the house, unmarked with no house number.

« Was I to rifle through the bins for signs it was hers? Go to the door at 7am to ask the daughter if it was her bin? Enter her property to check on her bins? Why can’t people just do simple tasks? ».

Responses piled in with one supporter saying: « Good for you. It’s a bloody cheek asking you in the first place when she has an adult child living in the house.

« I’d have said the same. She was probably moaning to her daughter that you hadn’t taken out the bins. »

Another dubbed the family « cheeky f**kers », criticising them as « entitled ».

Meanwhile, a Mumsnet user let off steam by saying, « It’s her fault for letting the daughter get away with it ».
