How to clean microwave with vinegar method to make sparkle

We all want our kitchens to be super clean – after all, it’s important when so much food is prepared there.

One appliance that’s tough to get sparkly is the microwave, as food always manages to get in the most awkward of places. Not to mention, things could get stuck pretty easily too.

But, thanks to one savvy TikTok creator, that all may be about to change thanks to a simple trick. The bloke, known as ken.c.long, shared the handy hint in a recent video where he asked people when was the last time they cleaned their microwaves.

He said all you need is a microwavable dish or jug, and a few simple ingredients to pull it off. Then he mixed together a cup of water, a cup of vinegar and two tablespoons of lemon.

Next, he placed the mixture in the microwave, and run the appliance on high for two minutes. This allowed the mixture to boil.

After it was heated up, he allowed it to sit for five minutes with the door closed. He explained the steam created inside helps loosen any grease and food that’s stuck inside the microwave.

When you open the door, it will then be much easier to wipe out any dirt and grime stuck inside the appliance. It may seem pretty simple, but it appears to work a treat.

The video has gone down a storm online, as people can’t get over how easy it is to rid the grime. It turns out we’ve all been scrubbing away for far too long for no reason at all.

Hundreds of users commented on the video praising Ken for the advice. People told him it « works great », and were super grateful for the handy tip.

One person said: « This is genius. » Another wrote: « I do this. »

A third replied: « For better heating of things, never put things in the middle, but on the edge of the rotating plate. » While fourth also chimed in with: « I actually use this one but without the lemon. »

Even though some thought the trick was brilliant, others were a little more dubious. People said the best way to avoid a problem was to stop it getting dirty in the first place.

One chirped in with: « Just wipe after every use. » Another said: « Or just use that on a tissue and wipe away the grease. »

It looks like a lot of people clean out their microwaves more than we thought, and everyone seems to have their own methods. Maybe it’s just finding the best way that works for you!
