Eve Lom is my new favourite cleanser – now it’s £20 cheaper

Eve Lom’s balm cleanser has become something of a cult icon in the skincare world, hailed by beauty editors and celebrities alike. The Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman went so far as to call it the “king of all cleansers” in an interview with Grazia in 2023. But it wasn’t until around one month ago that I got my mitts on it – and then my skincare routine was transformed.

The cleansing balm usually retails for £65 for 100ml, which is quite the investment, especially considering my usual cleanser (the Creamy Jelly cleanser by Byoma, in case you were wondering) is just £9.99 for a 750ml bottle. However, at the moment, you can get it for £19.50 cheaper from Look Fantastic and Amazon. So, if you’ve been itching to put the balm to the test, now’s a good time to give it a go.

I was lucky enough to test the Eve Lom balm as part of a Next Mother’s Day Beauty Box review, but the current discount has got me thinking about stocking up. It’s not your usual cleanser, and rather than being a liquid or gel-like substance, the Eve Lom alternative is a much thicker balm which can be rubbed onto the face and then massaged into the skin using a muslin cloth.

The balm comes in a white tub with the brand logo on it. But don’t let its subdued aesthetic fool you; it packs a punch and has made what is usually a step in my skincare routine that I don’t often think much about suddenly feel like a luxury experience.

As it’s a balm, you must scoop it out with your fingers. It’s then designed to be used alongside a muslin cloth (which comes included with your purchase) to massage the product into your skin. The balm glides onto your skin, and I swear I can almost feel my skin getting smoother as it coats the surface.

The herbal scent, which Eve Lom says is a blend of clove, eucalyptus, hops, and chamomile, adds to the spa-like experience. The experts say clove oil promotes clear skin, while chamomile oil and cocoa butter are also key ingredients that aim to soften, smooth, and condition.

I’ve found that it works well with warm water to remove makeup, although I am quite cautious about using it around my eyes (I usually stick with good old eye makeup remover for this step). However, I find myself reaching for the cleanser even on days I don’t wear makeup.

Once I’ve completed my routine, my skin feels soft and hydrated, without any greasy residue. Though I don’t have sensitive skin, Eve Lom says the product is made with sensitive skin in mind.

There’s no telling how long the balm will be discounted for, though. It is still full-price on the Eve Lom website, and though it’s cheaper on Look Fantastic and Amazon, neither brand has disclosed how long the deal will last.

Amazon is currently running its Spring Deals Days event, which will last until March 30. Though the Eve Lom discount is not part of the promotion, as is often the case with Amazon discounts, it could change at any time.
