Energy giant EDF is offering £50 cashback to its customers as a part of its World EV Day celebrations. The offer, which is available for a limited time, comes as sales of electric vehicles hit their highest monthly share of car sales in August.
Those customers who will sign-up its GoElectric tariff will be able to avail the cashback. EDF’s GoElectric tariff helps make switching to an electric vehicle more affordable by offering lower electricity costs—just 9p per kWh overnight. This can save drivers around £316 compared to standard rates. It works with all EV models and chargers, and gives five hours of cheaper, eco-friendly electricity every night from midnight to 5am, making it easier to charge both your car and your home while cutting costs and carbon. Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF said: “August was the highest monthly share of EV adoption this year.
« As we head into September, we know many drivers are considering making the switch, and this offer is designed to help them do just that – putting £50 back in their pockets and giving them access to one of the most cost-effective ways to charge at home. It’s about making cleaner transport more accessible, affordable, and rewarding. »
Existing and new customers will have to switch to the tariff before September 21, 2025. The credit will be applied to their account within 60 days of signing up. Customers must have a smart meter and be opted into half-hourly meter readings.
The promotion became available from 00:00am on September 9 and runs until 23:59pm on September 21.
EDF is also offering customers the chance to win free energy for a year through a limited-time prize draw, where four winners will be selected at random between September and December 2025. Households can enter the competition at edfenergy.com/win
Customers can also boost their savings by adding EDF’s Smart Charging bolt-on to their existing tariff, unlocking up to £251 more in reduced energy costs.
This feature lets EDF automatically charge their electric vehicle during times when electricity is both cheaper and more environmentally friendly.
It extends access to off-peak rates beyond the usual midnight to 5am window, helping customers save more on both home energy and EV charging while supporting a greener energy system.
