There’s nothing more annoying when you are hungry than forgetting to take your meat out of the freezer; defrosting can be a tedius process. Thankfully, a simple hack could help speed up the process.

Typically people defrost their meat by transfering it from the freezer to the fridge and leaving it overnight until it is completley thawed.

Others like to their chicken, beef or other meat into cold water, or you might have also tried the defrosting button on your microwave – this is the fastest method but it requires you to cook the meat immediately. Plus you must be careful not to over-defrost it in the microwave.

Mum-of-two Laza Storm, who shares her best lifestyle, family and travel tips online, says she only just learnt about a defrosting hack which has changed her meal times forever.

Laza said: « Would you believe me if I told you you can defrost a full block of meat – could be chicken or beef or anything in a couple of hours. »

Laza demonstrated in a video clip she shared on Instagram, how she thawes her meat using two pans. She flips a pan upside down and puts it on the countertop, put a packet of minced lamb on top and then placed another pan on top of the packet.

Laza added: « Life hack – who knew because I definately didn’t. No more stressing if you didn’t take it out first thing in the morning! Thank me later. »

Commenting on the clip, one said: « This is genius. » One other wrote: « Absolute life saver! The amount of times I’ve switched dinner ideas because i forgot to take the meat out in time.. seriously thanks for this. »

« Amazing, will try this, » commented one other. « Wow, » wrote another. « There will definitely be a time when we need to try this, » agreed another.

People should be aware that any piece of thawed meat should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours, according to the Foods Standards Agency.
