Clint Eastwood turned 95 over the weekend and a viral interview with German-language newspaper Kurier appeared to mark the milestone.

The Hollywood legend bemoaned modern Hollywood and appeared to be gearing up for another film.

Yet it now turns out the interview was bogus, and the outlet has cut ties with the reporter for recycling old quotes from 18 past round-table conversations.

Kurier said on its website: “Even though no quotes have been fabricated, the interviews are documented and the allegations of falsification can be refuted, we will not be working with the author in the future because transparency and our strict editorial standards are paramount to us.”

Eastwood himself has also released a statement on the matter, calling bullsh** on the supposed interview.

In a statement to Deadline, Eastwood said: “A couple of items about me have recently shown up in the news. I thought I would set the record straight. I can confirm I’ve turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phoney.”

As a result, it’s unclear if Eastwood really does have another film in the works after Juror No 2, which was rumoured to be his final movie.
