Loyalty programs have become so vital in supermarkets today that scanning your QR code at the checkout feels instinctive. Retailers like Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Boots all provide special discounts to customers who join, making the simple loyalty card more than just a rewards tool – it’s essential for achieving overall savings while shopping.
However, with the immediate perks we get from Nectar Cards, Clubcards, or Advantage Cards, it’s easy to overlook that we are building up points with every purchase, and these points can be redeemed for rewards like clothing, home goods, and far beyond. At Sainsbury’s, you typically earn one point for every £1 spent, whether in-store or online. Each Nectar point is valued at half a penny, meaning that 100 points equate to 50p for you to use. You can view your Nectar points balance through the app, on the website, or printed on your receipt after shopping at the supermarket.

When you want to use your Nectar points, remember that they can be spent on much more than just groceries at Sainsbury’s; these points are also accepted at various other brands.
Here are six brands where you can use your Nectar points, allowing you to grab everything from Habitat home goods to British Airways journeys and much more for a lower cost.
1. British Airways
With summer just around the corner, before you plan your next vacation, keep in mind that you can exchange your Nectar points for Avios (the currency used in a loyalty program by airlines), which you can use with British Airways.
Usually, 400 Nectar points can be converted into 250 Avios. The worth of your Avios points may fluctuate, but on average, one Avios point is generally valued at 1p.
To exchange your Nectar points for Avios, you must have a British Airways Club account. After that, simply follow the steps on the Avios website to connect your accounts, and you’ll be able to switch between Nectar and Avios.
2. Habitat
Habitat is a brand under Sainsbury’s, which means you can earn and use Nectar points at their online homeware store.
To get started, you’ll need to log in to your Argos account or set one up, since Habitat and Argos accounts are connected. After that, visit the Argos website, click on Account and then Ways to pay to input your Nectar information into your account.
Once that’s done, you can select how many Nectar points you wish to use at checkout, but remember, you must have at least 500 points to spend.
3. Argos
Just like with Habitat, spend and earn Nectar points when you shop at Argos in-store or online. You’ll need to spend a minimum of 500 points per transaction.
To use your Nectar points online, connect your Nectar Card to your Argos account by clicking on Account, then Ways to pay, and entering your Nectar information. For in-store purchases, just have your Nectar Card or app ready to scan at the checkout.

You can earn and use Nectar Card points at Tu, the clothing brand of Sainsbury’s, whether you shop in-store or online. A minimum of 500 points (equivalent to £2.50) is required for spending.
To earn and spend points online, you must log in to Tu with your Argos account. After that, navigate to My account, select Change my contact details, and click on the Payment details and Nectar Card page. Just enter the last 11 digits from the front of your Nectar card. For in-store point redemption, simply scan your app or card at the checkout.
5. Eurostar
Planning a trip to Paris or Amsterdam? You can apply your Nectar points to cover part of your Eurostar travel and lodging, starting with a minimum of 2,000 points (equivalent to £10).
To begin, you’ll want to convert your Nectar points into vouchers using the Nectar app. After that, when you’ve chosen your Eurostar trip, simply input your Nectar voucher code during the checkout process.
6. Nectar Hotels
When you reserve a room with Nectar Hotels, you can apply your Nectar Card points to help cover the cost of your accommodation. If you have sufficient points, you might even be able to pay for your whole visit. Additionally, you can earn as many as 2,000 points (equivalent to £10) for each night you stay.
The website features a diverse selection of hotels in various locations such as London, Manchester, Brussels, Prague, and many others. If you’re considering a trip, it’s definitely a good idea to take a look and find out if you can use your Nectar points to help cover the cost of your accommodation.
