A Quentin Tarantino film lauded by critics as ‘immaculate’ is scheduled to air on TV tonight (September 6).
The 2019 release Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood will be shown on Channel 4 at 10:10 pm., perfect for Saturday night entertainment.
This star-studded period drama features Hollywood bigwigs Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, both of whom were nominated for Oscars for their performances.
Pitt ultimately bagged the Best Supporting Actor award, while DiCaprio was overlooked for the Best Lead Actor accolade.
The plot transports viewers back to 1960s Hollywood, where has-been actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) attempt to revive their careers, reports the Mirror.
In their quest, they encounter intriguing characters that encapsulate the essence of Hollywood’s Golden Age of cinema.
Joining Pitt and DiCaprio are Barbie actress Margot Robbie, The Substance actor Margaret Qualley, and Oscar winner Al Pacino, among others.
Given this esteemed cast and crew, it’s no wonder that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a success.
The dramedy garnered 10 Academy Award nominations, including a nod for Best Picture. Tarantino was also shortlisted for the Best Director award, but lost out to Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite.
Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes critics awarded the comedy an impressive score of 86%, with general audiences giving it a slightly less generous 70%.
On the film critique platform, reviewers heaped praise on the Tarantino flick, with one exclaiming: « It’s an ode to cinema, with all its infinite layers. »
Another critic offered their glowing assessment, stating: « This 2019 film is almost immaculate in its direction and in its development of characters, but more so in its cinematography and in its acting. »
A third lauded: « Once Upon A Time in Hollywood just might be Tarantino’s masterpiece. »
Audiences agreed, with a viewer proclaiming: « For me the best Tarantino movie, very emotional, relevant, really a masterpiece! »
And another fan declared: « This movie is still at my #1 in terms of favourites. You get Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and so many others all in one movie with a fantastic story? Count me in, you need to watch it! »
