Nationwide account holders are being encouraged to take action now to potentially qualify for a £100 payment. The sum is connected to the Nationwide Fairer Share £100 bonus scheme.

During 2025, over 4million members of the building society received the £100 payment – and Moneysavingexpert suggested on Instagram that customers might witness a comparable payout this year.

“We think Nationwide might give its customers a free £100 again this year. Here’s what you can do now to boost your chances of getting it,” said Moneysavingexpert assistant editor Peter Lekarski.

“Assuming Nationwide keeps the same criteria as previous years, there will be three steps to follow. Firstly, don’t close your Nationwide current account. It might seem obvious, but we had to say it.

“Secondly, you need to use your Nationwide current account within the first three months of the year. And how you’ll need to use it depends on which current account you have. In two of the first three months of the year, either pay £500 into your account-this could be your salary, for example-and make two payments out of your account, or make at least 10 payments out of your account.

“If you can’t do any of that, you can instead complete a full current account switch from any non-Nationwide account. And switching will also net you £175 on top of the Fairer Share bonus.

“Finally, and this is the bit that tends to trip people up, make sure you have at least £100 in a Nationwide savings account or that you owe at least £100 on a Nationwide mortgage in March. If you don’t have either of those, just stick 100 quid into one of its savers.”

Not covered in the video are Nationwide’s FlexOne, FlexGraduate or FlexStudent account. If you have one of these accounts, based on previous years, either:

If you have its FlexPlus packaged account, just pay the monthly fee. If you are not a Nationwide customer, you could get the bonus by switching.

it’s also paying new customers £175 to switch to it – so if this goes ahead you could net yourself £275.

“In previous years, what you did in two of the first three months of the year determined whether or not you qualified for Nationwide’s Fairer Share £100 bonus,” Lekarski continued.

“Usually, Nationwide announces this scheme in May and pays the bonus to customers in June, and we think it’s likely – though not guaranteed – to do the same in 2026.”
