Sky Sports is available on many streaming and TV services, making it challenging for households to find the best option that could even save them hundreds. While you can watch sports for free on certain channels, you’re limited to which sports events you can watch, and the quality isn’t always the best.
Fortunately, Martin Lewis’s MoneySavingExpert website has revealed the best deals for sports fans to get their hands on Sky Sports, with some offering monthly payments that can be cancelled at any time.
Money Saving Expert wrote: “Sky Sports is one of the most popular sports broadcasters, showing a wide range of live events across 12 dedicated channels. Its coverage includes major competitions such as the Premier League, EFL, Formula 1, international cricket, golf, rugby, and more.
“It’s generally quite pricey, so make sure you choose the right package for you. Options include bundling it with traditional TV packages such as Sky or Virgin Media, or grabbing a standalone Sky Sports pass via Now TV.”
According to the money-saving website, Now Sports Membership for £34.99 is the cheapest way for sports fans to watch Sky Sports. However, the price only includes standard HD streaming; to enjoy full HD quality, you will have to pay more.
Now TV’s standalone Sky Sports pass is great for those who “only watch one or two sports”, as you can work out which points of the year the sports seasons you are going to watch are and avoid overpaying for months you won’t be watching games.
The pass gives you access to all 12 Sky Sports channels. You can also sign up on a rolling monthly basis at £34.99 and cancel whenever you want, or purchase a 24-hour pass if you only want to watch a specific sports event.
There is another option, however, that might be better for those who plan to watch sports games throughout most of the year and would like full HD quality as standard.
MSE added: “If you don’t mind committing to a 24‑month contract and want full HD included as standard, Sky Stream Essentials with Sky Sports added works out better value overall, even though the price is likely to rise during the contract.”
The Sky Stream Essential package costs £15 a month, with an additional £20 a month for Sky Sports, taking the monthly total to £35. That is virtually the same cost as Now TV’s Sports Membership, but with Sky’s deal, you get full HD quality for free.
