The heartwarming moment a Bulldog reunited with his owner after his return home left animal lovers in hysterics.
The four-legged star boasts his own social media presence – Gary the Bulldog on TikTok – where his family chronicle his daily escapades. In a recent video, upon clocking his ‘daddy’ walking through the door, Gary bolted across the laminate flooring to greet him, leaping up in excitement.
“Look at that love!” his ‘mummy’ exclaimed. “Why didn’t mummy get that? I bet he goes to the fridge!”
Sure enough, after a mere three seconds of affection, Gary promptly attempted to guide his owner towards the kitchen appliance, gazing expectantly at it’s handle. ‘Daddy’ happily obliged, rewarding Gary with a snack before the duo shared another tender cuddle.
Responding to the clip, one TikTok viewer gushed: “Gary loves him so much and knows him so well it seems.” A second person quipped: “Oh Gary you little monkey. All that fuss because you wanted a treat.”
A third proclaimed: “Yep, Gary is my favourite English bulldog on TikTok and there is a lot of competition.”
While a fourth TikTok user offered advice to ‘mummy’, penning: “Don’t let it wind you up though when they favourite the one who doesn’t do anything for them. Gary would miss you if you wasn’t there, you need to play more hard to get with him.”
To which she responded: “Well I’ll be out a lot next week with work so let’s see how much he misses me then!”
And a fifth simply declared: “He’s got daddy well trained!”
Purina provides online advice about the nature of Bulldogs, stating: “This is a family dog that loves children, and will even learn to get along with other pets, if introduced to them at an early age.”
The website further describes the breed’s temperament: “The Bulldog is a bit too friendly to be a good guard dog, but would defend a family member in need. They can be peaceful, pensive, goofy, stubborn, and have a well-developed sense of humour.”
It adds: “Tenacious and courageous, but also goofy, the Bulldog breed has been a worldwide symbol for toughness throughout the years, which is why you’ve most likely seen them in either schools or businesses across the world.
“However, despite being depicted as a ferocious dog, the Bulldog is actually highly affectionate and kind, as well as courageous.
“Highly adaptable and big fans of naps and treats, but quite stubborn, Bulldogs would be great companions for someone who already has some experience and knows how to properly look after them.”
