An American man decided to treat his mate from across the pond to an authentic cheese-tasting experience in the village of Cheddar – and the results were nothing short of spectacular.
Content creator Kalani Ghost Hunter, who boasts a substantial online following, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to introduce his friend Chris to one of Britain’s culinary gems. The pair made the trip to Cheddar, settling in at Cafe Gorge, a spot renowned for its exceptional sandwiches.
Kalani explained how this marked Chris’s first adventure to the UK, where he was about to savour genuine cheddar in its birthplace – an experience that thoroughly exceeded expectations.
Sharing the moment with his 3.3million TikTok followers, he announced: « Look at this sandwich Cheddar, England. This is my American friend’s first time in the UK and he’s about to have cheddar cheese in Cheddar England. »
Upon entering the establishment and perusing the offerings in the clip, which racked up 59,200 likes, Kalani suggests they sample some plain portions alongside a proper sandwich.
Turning to Chris, he enquires: « Are you ready? » His companion responds with curiosity: « I think so, is it going to be any different to American cheddar? »
Both mates opt for the Cafe Gorge Club, which Kalani characterises as a « really nice sandwich ». He also orders a bottle of local cheddar cider for his friend – a traditional brew called Scrumpy.

With a cheeky grin, Kalani quips: « Now you’re going to be trying the cheddar cider here. It is 11am but it is the right time. »
Raising his glass to the camera, Chris savours his initial taste and murmurs ‘wow’ beneath his breath before turning to the content creator, declaring it ‘scrumptious’.
Chris remarks: « That’s a really good cider, it’s an easy drink. » Following a few sips, Kalani informs him: « Historically, this is where cheddar comes from. »
His mate responds with surprise: « I thought cheddar was American cheese though. One of the things we had. »
Kalani then reveals: « You’re going to find that we pretty much just took everything from everyone else. Like apple pie isn’t even American. » Chris fires back: « Shut the f*** up. »

After ordering an iced latte, Chris requests a flat white which arrives with an elegant flower design atop the foam that « Kalani ruined » by giving it a stir.
Then comes the pièce de résistance – the sandwich materialises and Kalani enquires: « What are you thinking? » Before Chris can respond with a nod, he quips: « Is this American cheese? » At last, he takes his maiden bite.
The pair appear absolutely gobsmacked and enthralled before Chris confesses to Kalani: « I get it now. It’s all starting to make sense now. »
Describing the fromage, Kalani observes: « The perfect sharpness, the saltiness, » while his companion adds: « Creamy, it’s so smooth. » Kalani then suggests: « Cheddar will never be the same again for you. »
Next Chris confesses: « I might even move here. I’m not lying. I might not go back home. » Kalani concedes: « I might have to buy imported cheese because after travelling our cheese is s***. »
Next on the menu, it’s time to sink their teeth into the club sandwich. Kalani kicks off by savouring the pickle before giving viewers a peek inside the sandwich, exclaiming: « Let’s just jump in. »
After a few bites, he can’t help but rave: « Oh man, the cheddar is so good. »
His mate chips in: « It just has everything in it. »
To which Kalani responds: « Incredible. Everything you want in a sandwich and the cheese in there. »
Wrapping up the clip, Chris chats with a staff member from Cafe Gorge, confessing: « I ate a lot of cheese back home but that was hands down the best cheese I ever had. »
The video sparked quite a conversation once shared, with one viewer noting: « I love how Kalani is changing all Americans opinion on British food one at a time. »
Another chimed in: « Extra mature cheddar is the best cheese. No arguments. »
