A wholesale Japanese sushi supplier has announced a recall of two of its products from supermarket shelves, after a misprint on the labels. Tanpopo and the Food Standards Agency made the announcement on Friday, February 6, recalling two sushi products as they have been labelled with incorrect use-by dates.

This incorrect labelling means that the sushi is not safe to eat. There are two Tanpopo sushi products affected by the recall, as customers are urged not to eat them. The FSA’s risk statement read: “The products listed above have been labelled with incorrect use by dates which makes them unsafe to consume.”

  • Tanpopo Surimi & Avocado Roll – use-by-date February 13, 2026
  • Tanpopo Chicken Katsu Roll – use-by-date February 14, 2026

The use-by date can be found on the green label on the front of the packaging. According to the FSA, point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.

Customers who have bought Tanpopo products have been urged to check for the affected use-by-date. If shoppers have purchased the affected products, they can be returned to stores – either with or without a receipt – for a full refund.

If you need more information concerning the recall, please contact the brand at info@tanpopo.co.uk or via the phone number 01784 440 957.
