In 212 Asda cafés, all across the UK, people will be able to get a warming meal deal and unlimited brews for just £1. Jordan Cummings – Buying Manager, Cafes and Concessions at Asda – said winter can be « incredibly hard » for people as they try to stay warm « in the face of rising living costs ».
To help, customers over the age of 60 are eligible for the £1 Winter Warmer meal deal, which has been running since November 2025. This means Asda customers over the age of 60 are able to enjoy chicken or tomato soup, bread, and unlimited tea and coffee for just £1 – but the deal finishes at the end of February. With just a few more weeks left of the initiative, pensioners are being reminded that Asda cafés offer more than just a cheap meal.
Mr Cummings said Asda cafés also offer « a relaxed social environment to come and chat to others ».
The £1 meal deal has received praised online with Facebook commentators stating: « Well done, Asda. » Others said: « I’ll have to try that. »
Hazel Smyth also said « well done » to Asda, but said there is « no Asda » in her town, and asked: « Maybe Tesco could do the same? »
Tesco are offering a different initiative – where « kids eat free » with any adult purchase in a Tesco café.
According to Netmums, this offer is only valid « during school holidays » – and you will need a Tesco Clubcard to qualify.
Asda, however, are also running another initiative where children can eat a meal for £1 – and no adult spend is necessary.
Elsewhere, Morrisons is offering seniors over 60 a cooked breakfast and refillable hot drink for £6.
Plus, children get a free meal when accompanied by an adult who pays £5 or more for their own meal.
