A chart-topping artist is preparing to offer fans an intimate glimpse into his remarkable journey to stardom in a deeply ’emotional’ Netflix documentary.

American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan achieved worldwide recognition in 2022 when his folk ballad ‘Stick Season’ became a sensation on TikTok. The 29-year-old had already cultivated a loyal following before capturing international attention, and his popularity has soared ever since.

Noah is now gearing up to drop his fourth studio album, The Great Divide, on April 24 – though he has another exciting venture in the pipeline. Netflix has recently revealed that the Grammy-nominated artist has a brand new film arriving on the streaming service later this year.

According to Tudum, the documentary « finds Kahan at a crossroads in the wake of the breakout success of Stick Season ».

The synopsis adds: « After a whirlwind year of sold-out tours and unprecedented acclaim, he returns to his Vermont roots and family, » reports the Mirror.

It continues: « Buoyed by his uncanny wit, he searches for a sense of home and creative inspiration as he confronts the deeply personal struggles that have left him out of sync with himself. »

Stick Season, both the track and the record, captures a powerful portrait of Noah’s formative years in Vermont.

The album took cues from the work of English artist Sam Fender, who likewise draws upon his upbringing in North Shields as inspiration for his music.

Sam, 31, even teamed up with Noah on the deluxe edition of the Stick Season album, which also showcased contributions from Irish singer-songwriter Hozier.

The upcoming film was helmed by Nick Sweeney, recognised for his critically acclaimed documentary, AKA Jane Roe.

Sharing details about the project, the filmmaker revealed: « When we started filming, I had no idea what we’d capture, only that Noah was determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits.

« He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. »

Nick continued: « What we captured over the course of a year surprised me – moments that were thrilling, terrifying, [and] hilarious, often all at once. I’m so excited to partner with Netflix to invite viewers worldwide into Noah Kahan’s head as his world shifts beneath his feet. »

Netflix has yet to announce a title or launch date for the production, but fans are already eagerly anticipating its arrival.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one raved: « OMGGG I CAN’T WAIT. » While another penned: « OMG YOU’RE JOKING. »
