This is due to the ready meal containing wheat (gluten), which is not mentioned on the product’s label. In a statement, Tesco said: “We are recalling the use by date code 02 February 2026 of Tesco Special Fried Rice 350g, due to wheat not being declared as an ingredient on the product packaging. This may therefore pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat.”
The batch code affected is 02 February 2026. Tesco revealed that no other products are affected by this recall.
The FSA wrote on its website: “Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers.
“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.”
The FSA advised shoppers who have bought the product or have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or coeliac to not eat the product at all costs. Instead, the product to any Tesco store for a full refund.
