Netflix has just revealed the official trailer for People We Meet on Vacation, which follows the free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex who have been unlikely best friends for a decade, and fans are already feeling emotional.
Despite living in different cities, they spend every summer vacation together. Netflix teased ahead of the film’s release in January: « The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match? »
Commenting on the trailer, @stillstandingattheexit said: « Thank you Emily Henry, Thank you Emily Bader and Thank you Tom Blyth for making the movie of the year. »
The trailer shows Poppy’s parents welcoming Alex, whom they adore, into their home as Poppy insists they are « just friends ».
She is heard saying: « On vacation, you can be anyone you want. You can actually be who you want to be, instead of who they say you are. »
The pair are seen trying all sorts of activities from skinny dipping in the sea to exploring restaurants and cafes all over the world.
They even pretend to be engaged so they can get treated to freebies after seeing a pair of « lovebirds » receive special treatment.
What starts off as an innocent act turns into a potential romance as the friends grow closer than ever before.
The trailer teases some emotional moments as Alex vows to « always be here » for his best friend in times of need.
Taking to the YouTube comments, @katiel1021 added: « Everyone say thank you to Emily Henry for saving the romcom genre!!! »
