Netflix fans say they’re “licking their lips” as a brand new poster for the next film in the Knives Out franchise is released.

The third film in the hit murder mystery series, Wake Up Dead Man, reunites director Rian Johnson with James Bond star Daniel Craig as famous sleuth Benoit Blanc.

This time, Blanc arrives in a small town where a close-knit group of devoted churchgoers have been left reeling by the “impossible” murder of their firebrand priest, Msgr. Jefferson Wicks (played by Josh Brolin).

Newcomer Rev. Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) is top of the list of suspects, but Blanc is certain something more sinister is at play and begins combing the troubled parishioners for evidence.

Currently playing in cinemas, the Netflix film has just received a new poster featuring the main cast ahead of its release on the streaming platform on 12th December.

Also featured in the all-star ensemble are Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.

Fans of the franchise who are eagerly anticipating the streaming release took to X to show their appreciation for the new poster.

One user asked excitedly: “Who else is licking their lips?”

Someone else exclaimed: “Benoit Blanc is back! My December is officially sorted.”

A third said: “Saw it in the cinema this weekend. Phenomenal film. Go see it!!!” And a fourth simply wrote: “Love these movies!!!!”

The third film in the series following 2019’s Knives Out and its 2022 sequel Glass Onion, Wake Up Dead Man is already receiving rave reviews, with an impressive 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wendy Ide of the Observer made a bold claim in their review: “Thanks to a terrific Josh O’Connor, a standout even in a heavy-hitting cast… plus a confident screenplay that dares to ask existential questions along with the usual whodunnit twists, it could be the best instalment yet.”

A review in the Boston Globe agreed: “I’ve enjoyed all three movies, but this one is the best of the Knives Out mysteries so far.

« His inability to land on a solution makes Benoit Blanc insecure, and it opens up new layers for Craig to play, and the resulting tension keeps us on our toes. »

And the Guardian said: “Rian Johnson’s delectable new Knives Out film is a chocolate box: mouthwateringly delicious on the first layer and … well, perfectly tasty on the second.”

Wake Up Dead Man is in UK cinemas now and will be released on Friday, 12th December on Netflix.
