Costco has become increasingly popular for those looking to get a good deal on their shopping. But just how good a deal are you getting when shopping in this wholesale store? Well, as it turns out, there is a method behind their pricing, and you can use this to determine just what is worth buying and what should be left in the shop.

Entrepreneur and money expert Mark Tilbury has taken to TikTok reveal the « secrets » behind Costco pricing and how you can make sure you are actually getting a good deal. He began: « If the price ends in .99, it’s regular pricing, so there’s no rush to buy it.

« If it ends in a .97, then it’s on sale, so it could be worth buying. Third, if it ends in a .39, .49, or .79, it’s a manufacturer’s special, so check their website and compare prices. »

If the item’s tag has a star or a plus, it won’t be restocked, so Mark suggests purchasing it ASAP if it’s something you really want.

While if the price ends in .00, then Mark says you’ve stumbled upon a « manager’s special », which are so rare that he was unable to find one when filming his video.

Mark’s followers were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: « Thank you for actually explaining these techniques well. » While another added: « The fact that he know this and exposes the knowledge to us in his content is epic. »

And a third commented: « As a Costco employee, I agree with this message. »

However, not everyone was as happy with the hacks, with one displeased commenter writing: « I don’t need these hacks. I just go in, buy what’s on my list, and get out.

« If I’m buying things ONLY because it’s on sale, it’s not really saving money. If what I want happens to be on sale, that’s saving money. »

Another said: « Previous Costco manager here…. some of these are accurate some are not. »

They further explained: « The asterisk doesn’t mean a product is going to never return. sometimes it returns with new packaging or a new item number or is seasonal and will come back. »
