Sarah Ferguson has carved out a defining name for herself in the fashion world over the years – from rocking jaw dropping designs, to her efforts behind the scenes. The Duchess dazzled royal watchers in Cannes earlier this summer, in a look that went almost undetected.

Prince Andrew’s ex-wife attended the 3rd Knights of Charity Gala at Chateau de la Croix des Gardes. The 65-year-old looked radiant in a striking green gown with pink accents by British designer Safiyaa (£1,095) – a label also favoured by the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle.

The floor-length gown, with its figure-hugging silhouette and sculpted shoulders, proved that the Duchess is continuing to set the fashion bar high for women in their 60s.

She accessorised with a fuchsia Furla bag that retails at £295, while her shoes, though not fully visible, appeared to be pointed heels in a matching emerald hue.

Fans were quick to praise the look online, hailing it as one of her most stylish appearances in recent years. Taking to Instagram one user penned online: « This is maybe her best look ever. love this dress, it fits perfect. »

« Absolutely her best look to date. She looks fab. », agreed another.

Fergie, as she is affectionately known to friends and family, has been carving out a reputation as a royal style leader.

Behind the glitz and glamour Sarah has also been linked to the fashion initiative Key to Freedom after helping establish it. The organisation was founded in 2012 to provide skills and employment to vulnerable women in West Bengal, India, through the creation of ethical fashion.

Over a decade on she is reportedly still actively involved, and has expressed pride in the initiative’s work, which see their garments sold in big retailers like Topshop.

Over the years we have seen Fergie embrace bold colours, with her recent red carpet appearance highlighting a newfound confidence in choosing sleek, contemporary silhouettes that celebrate her figure.

By opting for a dress that is both modern and glamorous, she proves that women in their 60s can embrace body-conscious styles and bare their arms while looking effortlessly elegant.

What made this particular look even more poignant was its striking similarity to outfits once worn by her late friend Diana, Princess of Wales.

Diana often championed bold jewel tones such as emerald green and fuchsia pink, pairing them together in dramatic evening gowns during the 1980s and 1990s – she truly understood the importance of dressing.

She was renowned for using colour to command attention, and her figure-hugging Catherine Walker gowns carried the same structured glamour that Sarah brought to Cannes.

By stepping out in a gown that mirrored Diana’s fearless use of colour and silhouette, Sarah not only paid homage to timeless royal fashion but also reminded onlookers of the enduring bond and style influence the two women shared.
