Cleaning a greasy oven might feel like a tough job – over time, grease and food spills can build up, making it all the more difficult to clear.
Lack of regular cleaning not only makes your oven look dirty but it can also prevent your oven from cooking evenly. A deep clean can make all the difference – but if you’ve left it for a while, it may be hard to find something that works.
One cleaning whiz believes she has a simple solution that cuts through grease without the need for scrubbing. The woman, who posts online as @realhomesofficial, is known for sharing her home and lifestyle tips online.
In one video, which has gained more than 36,000 likes, she shared her three-ingredient hack to clean her ovens. She explained: « We tried the viral oven cleaning hack. Step one: mix baking soda, dish soap and water. »
At Asda, you can get baking soda for as low as £1.75 and washing up liquid for just 69p. Each ingredient will last for multiple oven cleans – meaning each clean will cost just pennies.
She continued: « Step two: apply paste to your dirty oven. Tip: You can add more water at this point if you need. »
The woman was seen moving the mixture around her oven door. It appeared to be lifting the grease away as she went on as she wrote: « Step three: Go to bed and in the morning scrub the dried paste off with your hands. »
Finally, she said to spray the oven with white vinegar and wipe it over until it’s sparkling clean. In the caption, she declared that the hack « worked » as hundreds of TikTok users took to the comments to give their opinion.
Many people praised the hack after trying it themselves. One user said: » I did this it is amazing, » while another commented: « I have to try this. »
However, some were left divided as they declared it was « too messy » to be a convenient hack. A viewer wrote: « I have tried this and it was a disaster!!! Very messy. » Someone else penned: « I’m a professional cleaner and there is no need for that mess!! »
